Humanism in Medicine: The Patient as Guide

The Patient as Guide is an innovative initiative aimed at embedding humanistic and patient-focused principles into medical education, particularly in the context of general healthcare. Central to this program is the concept of patients serving as guides. Individuals who have undergone various medical treatments and experiences volunteer to share their stories and wisdom with medical students. This exchange allows students to understand healthcare journeys through the patients' eyes, enriching their comprehension of empathy, compassion, and the human aspects of medical care. The primary objective is to enhance the education and practice of medicine by fostering a deep sense of empathy and social responsibility in future healthcare professionals.
